The components produced by KEYMILE comes with top MTBF values of 50 years and more to guarantee faultless operation for a very long period of time. The components are tested in the company's own EMC lab in line with the standards so that they function perfectly even under tough conditions in dedicated networks (i.e. where interference and vibrations occur). All units are tested thoroughly before delivery to guarantee this quality in the end product. The combination of this testing and the company's own production facilities in Hanover (Germany) ensures KEYMILE customers receive top quality. We cannot rule out the possibility that a component might fail during the long service lives KEYMILE systems enjoy. For such a scenario extensive redundancy concepts are integrated into the systems which quickly (<50 ms) facilitate data transmission via an alternative path should a malfunction occur. As a result, individual paths or whole units can be protected from failure. The KEYMILE concept cuts maintenance intervals because the systems allow fanless operation. Due to a purely passive structure, potential sources of malfunction from mechanical parts subjected to wear and tear no longer exist.
Extra long life-cycle
KEYMILE products have very long life cycle. Due to its own production facilities and prudent inventory management KEYMILE can guarantee a long period of production. Today KEYMILE is still making systems that have been in the portfolio for over 20 years. Should components for production no longer be available, a re-design is carried out in order to provide customers with familiar functions. KEYMILE customers can use the technology required as long as they want. At the same time the latest technologies are constantly being integrated into the systems. Consequently, customers have low costs during the products' useful lives (life-cycle costs) as they don't need to change their network structures. They can always maintain them at a level that is state of the art by exchanging individual cards.
Simple to operate and maintain
From the outset KEYMILE systems are designed for ease of operation and maintenance. Therefore, impeccable interaction between the hardware, software and network management is essential. The flexible any-service-at-any-slot concept makes expanding the systems easier. The KEYMILE network management solution's intuitive user interface facilitates operation so that any technician (and not just expensive specialists) can monitor the networks too. Faults in the network are displayed immediately and the source located exactly so that returning to standard network operations is achieved quickly and effectively. Because network nodes are configurable offline, lab technicians can prepare the systems for integration perfectly. Consequently the systems are very quickly in real working condition so that minimal downtime occurs during installation.

Technicians also very rarely have to go to the systems, cutting travel to non-local systems to a mini-mum. Due to an innovative electricity concept, boards are configurable so that during malfunctions certain boards can be shut down to supply power to mission-critical ones via batteries for as long as possible. By integrating new technologies into existing systems, KEYMILE systems are future proof and operate for decades without installations requiring replacements.
A future-proof system
In dedicated networks connected devices and the associated special services can be used for a very long time. The interval between introducing new systems is a factor that needs to be taken into account by the equipment when transmitting data. Operators of dedicated networks want to put technologies with good track records in the new platforms too. Systems that transmit mission-critical data must guarantee the coexistence of technologies whose development (in some cases) is more than 50 years away.
The underlying principle of KEYMILE systems is evolution instead of revolution. The systems combine the latest IP technology with tried-and-tested TDM technology in one system. As a result, services from the middle of the last century and state-of-the-art packet services can be provided via one single system. Thanks to this unique system architecture, with new technologies network operators don't have to integrate new and additional systems into their network, but can simply make their network state of the art by inserting new cards into the KEYMILE system. Provision of all services with just one system and standard network management also minimises faults in the network, reduces warehousing spaces and the time required for training.
