FTTH - One optical fibre to every subscriber

FTTH - Future-proof Optical MSAN with active Ethernet PtP technology

The demand of bandwidth will continue to grow. The possible bandwidth via copper pairs will not suffice for new or extended Internet applications. Optical fibre with its high capacities and transmission range is the solution.

Active optical networks (AON) with a dedicated optical fibre for every customer have essential advantages compared to passive optical networks (PON). With no splitters in the cable tray, the infrastructure is sustainable and the base for the requirements of the future. With one dedicated optical fibre per subscriber the immunity to interference will be maximised and the efford for locating faults will be minimised. This reduces the operational costs (OPEX).

Several network operators want to provide a traditional TV programm together with a Triple Play offering. For this purpose it makes sense to transmit both data signals (CATV and Triple Play) via a single optical fibre.

MileGate is a compact Optical MSAN with a very high port-density. Up to 480 subscribers can be connected via optical fibre per 19" subrack. MileGate's FTTH solution offers a CATV overlay for analogue or digital TV signals. Thus, IP data can be transmitted in parallel to the cable TV signal on the same optical fibre. MileGate is outdoor-ready and supports copper and optical fibre connections. So it can be ideally adapted to any network topology.

  • 24-port line card for high-density FTTH with 100BaseBX/GbE connections
  • Up to 480 optical subscriber connections per subrack
  • CATV overlay for analogue and digital TV signals
  • Triple Play services, as IPTV, broadband Internet access, VoIP
  • Low power consumption
  • 2 types for FTTH/FTTB/FTTC networks
  • Carrier-grade broadband access
  • A variety of DSL- and telephony interfaces
  • Enhanced range of temperatures -25 °C - +60 °C
