SDH Applications for UMUX

This course is designed for all engineers and technicians who work with SDH technology and require the skills and knowledge to configure the SDH transmission and access interfaces within the UMUX platform.

Upon completion of this course the participants will have a basic knowledge of the SDH Network Elements and applications, including the principles of synchronisation and the different types of protection mechanisms. They will be able to configure and commission the SDH interface types, and be able to interpret alarms.

• Revision of SDH principles
• Multiplexing/Mapping procedures of PDH signals into STM frames
• Section/Path Overhead Information and role of pointers
• SDH network elements types (Regenerator, TM, ADM, DXC ...)
• Applications and options using the UMUX SDH units
• Description and confi guration of KEYMILE SDH interface units including the STM-4 unit, SYN4E
• EoS (Ethernet over SDH) functionality in UMUX (VCAT ...)
• SDH management
• SDH alarm scheme (interpretation of anomalies, defects, alarms)
• Synchronisation principles and examples
• SDH Protection schemes and their application
• Practical exercises

Attendance or comprehensive working knowledge of the content of the following course: UMUX Fundamentals.

Each participant receives a printed copy of the course documentation.
