Successful rollout in Brazil

Brazilian network operator GVT modernizes and extends its infrastructure with the multi-service access platform MileGate from KEYMILE. In August 2008, GVT has installed its thousandth access node in Salvador, Bahia.
MileGate is the foundation for a bundle of services that GVT offers. This bundle consists of legacy services, and IP services like broadband Internet and special business services.
MileGate is also opening up a migration path towards an All-IP-Network for GVT. Today GVT can use the existing local exchange equipment for voice services with MileGate’s V5.x interface and at the same time, the operator can roll out ADSL as an IP service from the same access node.
In the future, GVT will be able to migrate the voice services to IP with MileGate’s VoIP media gateway functions – a pure IP network can be implemented and the old telephone network can be dismantled. With this functionality, GVT can continue offering legacy telephone services while converting its network step-by-step to All-IP.
