The ever-increasing demand for bandwidth does not just require new transmission processes, but adjustments of the network structure too. Using ADSL technology, bandwidths of up to 6 Mbps can be achieved from the exchange locations to cover the network extensively. Bandwidths that are greater than this require a shorter distance between DSLAM (DSL-Access Multiplexer) and subscriber. As a result, a rising number of new network architectures with fibre optics are being used, such as:
FTTC (Fibre-to-the-Curb): Moving the DSLAM to a street cabinet near to the customer and connecting the customer via ADSL2plus or VDSL2.
FTTB (Fibre-to-the-Building): A optical fibre to a small DSLAM in the building and from this connecting the subscribers via VDSL2.
FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home): A optical fibre direct up to the subscribers premises.
KEYMILE products support these FTTx network architectures perfectly and therefore give you maximum freedom in structuring your network.
MileGate combines carrier-grade broadband access, telephony and data interfaces in one single, compact Next-Generation Access Platform that is excellent for the FTTx architecture. Consequently, network operators can continue to support legacy telephony and broadband services. At the same time they can migrate to the NGN (Next Generation Network) and provide high-quality Triple Play and broadband business services too, based on flexible, first class engineering.
